A Family Business: The History of NYBBC

The New York Black Belt Center was founded in 2010 by Master Joseph Lupo Jr. under the tutelage of his father Grandmaster Joseph Lupo Sr. What began very humbly in a 1500 sq. ft. facility has grown into a 4000 sq. ft. facility in the heart of Bayside, New York with full men and women changing rooms.

No Gimmicks

With the help of a few very loyal students; who would become the original Team Wolfpack, NYBBC quickly drew many more students, and a reputation for being a no gimmick, non-commercial, family oriented Martial Arts institution.

No Contracts

NYBBC’s no contracts policy proved to students and parents alike that Master Joseph Lupo Jr. teaches every single class from his heart, not his pocket; that he truly wants everyone to be part of his Taekwondo family, without any strings attached. In the words of Sun Tzu: “A Leader leads by example, not by force”, has been the school motto since day 1 and will continue to be its motto for years to come.
